To want ほしい。。。
To express desire for something, use noun + が + ほしい です .It can also
be used to ask what the listener wants. The object is marked with the paticle
が . ほしい is an い adjective, so to make it negative, you need to remove い
and add くない .
- 大きい うち が ほしい です。- (I) want a big house.
- こども が ほしい です か。 - Do you want children?
はい、ほしい です。 - Yes, I want that.
いいえ、ほしくない です。 - No, I don't want that.
Verb たい form
This form expresses the speaker's desire to do something. It can also be
used to ask the listener what they want to do. In this expression, が
can replace the particle を. However no other particles may be replaced by
が since this would change the meaning of the sentence.
- 私 は すし を たべたいです。 - I would like to eat Sushi.
- 日本 に いきたい です。- I would like to go to Japan.
These forms cannot be used to express a third person's desire.
There are some fixed phrases for expressing desires such as hunger.
- 私 は すし を たべたいです。 - I'm hungry
- のど が かわきました。 - (I'm) thirsty
- つかれました。 - (I'm) tired
